Welcome Home

Miss Sharon and I closed on our new home in Sachse Texas today!  It is official we are Texans.  The tradition continued as I carried her across the threshold into our third home.

Our house was finished yesterday and once they got the sod in we were granted a certificate of occupancy!

Firewheel

I moved to Sachse Texas, but almost everything I am doing or need is just three or four miles away in Garland Texas.  The area I really like is named “Firewheel”  Firewheels are a native wildflower, in fact it is the Oklahoma state flower.  They are also called Indian Blanket.  While driving around, I found a large patch growing on the side of the road.

Thought this one turned out decent considering it was shot with my iPhone.

More to come as I start to live my new Texas life through my lens.  I’ll post when I can.

Martha Ave Update 5-12-15

The moving truck showed up today on the Illinois house.  The Sachse house is now about a week behind due to all the rain.  Right now we don’t have a final closing date but hoping for sometime before Memorial Day weekend. I was able to walk through it and get a few updated photos.

Urbana Grand Prix

Yesterday I finally got to watch my son Matt race in a road race.  I have seen him race mountain bikes several times but I had kind of avoided the road races.  Mountain bikes hit speeds of 15 to 18 MPH, and crashes are mostly on dirt.  Road races a different story.  Speeds pushing upper 30’s and crashes on concrete.

Matt raced the Urbana Grand Prix, and he even made the local paper.  Check out some of Matt’s photos and write ups over on his blog at Cycles In Life
