Wylie Rodeo Days 2015

Went up to Wylie Rodeo Days this past Saturday night.  The event was very well organized.  We parked at the Wylie Football stadium and they used air conditioned school buses to get the people over the rodeo event.

The rodeo started with a prayer and a tribute to the 9/11 fallen.  I found it to be very well done and touching.  I have always been very proud to be an American and Texas is full or state and country pride.  Something lacking in Illinois.

I left before the barrel races or bull riding.  Maybe next year.  If you have’t been to a rodeo before I would strongly suggest this one next year if you are in the area.

Layla visits Texas and the Fort Worth Zoo

I was really excited and happy to find out Ashly and Layla wanted to come to see our new home in Sachse Texas while Matt went to Colorado on a guy mountain bike trip.  The blog write up on Matt’s trip along with some incredible mountain photos can be seen over on his blog at www.cyclesinlife.com

The gilrs got in Thursday early afternoon and we hung out around the house and went down to the pool for Layla to have a little Splish Splash time.

Friday I took the girls into the office to see where I work and to show off Layla to fellow co-workers.  I had asked Ashly what kinds of food she wanted while she was down here and all she said was I want your home cooking.  Friday afternoon we hit the grocery stores and planned out several home cooked meals.

Saturday started off with homemade Belgium waffles and then a drive over to the Fort Worth Zoo.  It was a very nice, large and clean zoo.  It got up to the mid 90’s but plenty of animals were very active.

I have tried several times to get some decent photos of a male wood duck, and finally got one at the zoo.

I got the privilege of buying little miss Layla her first pair of real live cowgirl boots.

Sunday and Monday were spent shopping for Layla fall and winter clothes at the Allen outlet mall.

All in all I think all the girls had a nice weekend and I got to spoil them a little.  I worked on getting her to say PaPaw all weekend, but mostly just came out da or dad.

She is growing up fast!  I miss them already!
