Texas Firewheel Flowers

As promised.  I went out to try and take a “Southern” photo of the horses in the firewheel flowers.  As soon as I got out the car they all bolted straight to the fence where I was planning on climbing into the pasture.  Clearly they thought I had apples or sugar cubes. I got some extreme horse closes-ups and pretty much the photo I had in mind.

I have my eye on a pair of what I believe to be are Red Shouldered Hawks that are living on the high rise I work in.

Maybe the camera will make an appearance at work if I can get them down to some type of predictable pattern.

Firewheel

I moved to Sachse Texas, but almost everything I am doing or need is just three or four miles away in Garland Texas.  The area I really like is named “Firewheel”  Firewheels are a native wildflower, in fact it is the Oklahoma state flower.  They are also called Indian Blanket.  While driving around, I found a large patch growing on the side of the road.

Thought this one turned out decent considering it was shot with my iPhone.

More to come as I start to live my new Texas life through my lens.  I’ll post when I can.

Texas Blue Bonnets

30 or 40 acres of Texas Blue Bonnets are right down the street from the new subdivision. Thought I better take a photo of the Texas State Flower.
