Bluegrass On Ballard

We have been going 5 miles up the road to Wylie at least once a week to eat at the Ballard Street Cafe.  Today Wylie had it’s Bluegrass on Ballard festival.  Food, Crafts, Car Show. Weather was perfect, felt nice to walk around some!

One of the guys I work with now has this beauty of a 1968 Camaro in the car show. Sharon has always wanted a 68.  Maybe someday but for now the Harley will have to do.

We didn’t take the bike because I thought I was going to buy a set of Longhorns for the house.  I had him down to $135 but he wouldn’t go for $100 cash.  I was wheeling and dealing on the fifth set from the bottom.  They were over 60 inches.KJ5D1987-FrameShop

This is the cute little barber I have been getting my haircut at.  First time, I started to tell him how my beautician had been cutting it.  He pretty much told me he had been cutting hair for 43 years and he would figure it out.  I’ll be going back!KJ5D1989-FrameShop KJ5D1991-FrameShop KJ5D1994-FrameShop KJ5D1995-FrameShop

This ended up being Sharon’s favorite car.  a 1939 Chevy truck named “Peaches”.  Loved the paint on this one and Sharon said she could she herself driving one like this someday! Peaches is owned and driven by a female.  I dont think I could pull off driving this paint color.KJ5D1996-FrameShop KJ5D1999-FrameShop

Perfect weather, good food, Great music, got some local Honey, but didn’t get the horns. Felt good to be out walking around with a camera again!  Who knows what will get in front of my lens next?

Texas Firewheel Flowers

As promised.  I went out to try and take a “Southern” photo of the horses in the firewheel flowers.  As soon as I got out the car they all bolted straight to the fence where I was planning on climbing into the pasture.  Clearly they thought I had apples or sugar cubes. I got some extreme horse closes-ups and pretty much the photo I had in mind.

I have my eye on a pair of what I believe to be are Red Shouldered Hawks that are living on the high rise I work in.

Maybe the camera will make an appearance at work if I can get them down to some type of predictable pattern.

Three Gallons per hour

Getting stuff done.  Only took 9 gallons to do the two side fences and the 8 foot back fence.  Was surprised I could get it done in three hours.  That is three gallons per hours.

The color matched up pretty well.  The street facing comes pre-stained.  It is a 15 year stain, but I am guessing 3 or 4 years it will need done again, but won’t take near as much stain.

I have always said I just photograph whatever life throws at me, lately that has been the new house. I have my eye on two fields of wildflowers, so maybe I can get back to photographing nature and wildlife now that the house is coming together.

Welcome Home

Miss Sharon and I closed on our new home in Sachse Texas today!  It is official we are Texans.  The tradition continued as I carried her across the threshold into our third home.

Our house was finished yesterday and once they got the sod in we were granted a certificate of occupancy!

Firewheel

I moved to Sachse Texas, but almost everything I am doing or need is just three or four miles away in Garland Texas.  The area I really like is named “Firewheel”  Firewheels are a native wildflower, in fact it is the Oklahoma state flower.  They are also called Indian Blanket.  While driving around, I found a large patch growing on the side of the road.

Thought this one turned out decent considering it was shot with my iPhone.

More to come as I start to live my new Texas life through my lens.  I’ll post when I can.
